Bio

Tirzah Legg is a queer sculptor working in ceramics and mixed media. She was born and raised in Saucier, Mississippi, a small town in the Deep South near the Gulf Coast. After receiving her Associates degree of Art from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, she went on to obtain her BFA at the University of Southern Mississippi, and MFA at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

Tirzah is currently living and working in Oberlin, Ohio full-time as Gallery Director, and part-time as a Ceramics Studio Manager and Ceramics Instructor for the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts (FAVA). She recently served on the Nominating Committee for FRONT International’s 2022 Art Futures Fellowship, as well as the Public Mural Committee for the City of Oberlin in partnership with FAVA.

Her work has been shown nationally at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference, at SPACES Cleveland, Kent State University Downtown Gallery, and the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Arts Center.

Founded in 1979, The Firelands Association for the Visual Arts is an independent, non-profit art organization in Oberlin, Ohio dedicated to enhancing public appreciation of and participation in the visual arts through exhibitions and related educational and community activities.
